Pakistani Marriage Traditions

December is bride time in Pakistan, and the country goes all out with a few weeks of celebrations that culminate in Nikkah – the signing of the marriage contract. During this time, thousands of Pakistanis who live internationally come home to observe with family and friends.

A Dholki, a pre-event that occurs one or two days before the primary events, is where guests dance to traditional disc dholak beats. The princess’s hands and feet are decorated with elaborate henna patterns, followed by the Mehndi, which is performed while singing and dancing.

In the Mehndi, the groom and his home compensate for the function. Finally, the bride’s home hosts her Valima service where they serve a variety of food and drinks to customers. This includes meat, meat, sushi and pulao along with various desserts. Jahez, the money products, are generally likewise served. Depending on the family, they may either be used as part of the bride’s saadi ( wedding ) or kept as an asset for the future.

The bride’s home asks for her hand in marriage and presents her with a band at the Magni, or relationship group, the following evening. After the couple’s household mail order bride asain accepts the proposal, the pair does legally wed! The Rukhsati, where the bride leaves her parents ‘ home to join her husband’s family, is the bride’s final ceremony in Pakistan. It frequently brings both joy and sadness.
